Product Review – Bazzill Basics Stitching Templates

January 21, 2009 by Lisa Beth

Even though it is a bit time consuming, I love to stitch on my pages.  In the beginning, I would struggle to get the spacing correct, and always worried about it being exactly symmetrical (my type A personality shines through).  Until I discovered that stitching templates were available.   I had always seen them in magazines and knew they were out there, but like many scrappers, scrapbooking supplies are a bit limited where I live, so I made due.  The Bazzill Basics brand are the only ones I have purchased thus far, but I’m sure there are many companies that make them.  BB make many different types like the ones pictured below:

Stitching templates - 12 inch

Stitching templates - small

I have used these with my poker (technical term) and foam mat:

to poke holes in my paper to create the template and stitch with thread….

Scrapbooking stitching

I have also used this to create a design on a page to make an original background paper:

Here I used a pen and made dots were the holes usually go, then traced (like connect-the-dots) with paint!

These are such a fun products, are easy to use and will cut your stitching time in half. It takes the “guesswork” out of trying to invent your own stitching patterns, and ensures that you always get a perfect stitch on each page.
